Flies are dangerous insects because they carry with them harmful bacteria and other micro organisms from filthy places and transfer them onto our food. Flies causes cholera, dysentry and other diseases.

They are attracted to a wide variety of substance from human foods to even excrement. Flies excretes and regurgitates whenever it comes to rest. This makes it dangerous especially when they rest on our food stuffs, thereby transmitting diseases from their body hairs and bristles and legs to the food that we eat.

Flies are usually active during the day where there is light and will rest at night of in darkness. They breed in all kinds of moist, warm and decaying material. Therefore, garbage, sewage, animal carcasses and excrement are excellent breeding places.

Controlling Flies

Control of flies are best done through proper sanitation.

	Garbages, faeces etc should be disposedoff regularly. Do not leave them around the house.
	You can install fly screens onto windows and doors to prevent files from entering your premises.
	Ensure there are no exposed food sources of exposed wastes. Flies are attracted to these items.
	When disposing garbages, use plastic bag and ensure they are tied.
